Although, Piper School is the smallest school in our district, we are mighty!  We have two sections of each grade level from kindergarten to fifth grade with the exception of a third section of first grade this year.  One third of our students qualify for ELL and native instruction services.  One co-taught class is offered at each grade level.  Our students with special needs are included with their grade level peers all day and receive instruction from both a regular education and special education teachers.  We are very proud of our after school programs that we offer to students which include Engineering Club, Green Team, Battle of the Books, Sports Club, Number Ninjas, Choir, Science for Girls with North Central College, iSWAT, TED Ed Club and several others.  Each and every day our students strive to meet our PBIS expectations of Be Engaged, Be Safe, and Be Respectful.  We were honored last year in being recognized as a PBIS Platinum School.  Two years ago we began professional development to be a Responsive Classroom School.  Students begin their day with morning meeting and carry these practices throughout their interactions with students and staff.  Piper students have been engaged in many different learning opportunities this year through collaboration with their peers.  For example, our fifth grade students designed their own Piper Storyline Online website.  5th graders created videos reading aloud some of their favorite stories that include graphics, sound effects, and truly bring the books to life!  These stories are then listened to by our other classrooms and other students in the district.   Often you will find our students collaborating and creating on projects through Google apps, researching and demonstrating their learning, as well as exploring new and passionate ideas. #WeArePiper
